I borrowed a pair of Stabilicers from a friend and wore them in all types of conditions for several hours: from sheets of solid ice on a parking lot and frozen over puddles; hard/packed snow; deep snow (they never came off); up and down snow/ice covered hills; uneven surfaces -- I put them through all types of conditions. I was so impressed as to the level of confidence that I felt walking on every type of terrain over snow-covered conditions, that I immediately placed an order for my own pair as soon as I got home.
Like other reviewers, I am not a confident walker on any type of slippery surface -- and I am usually the first one to slip in the crowd. But not only were the Stabilicers very stable, they were not the least bit uncomfortable (except the few times that I had to cross over dry pavement; then you have to walk gingerly -- not that you will slip, it just feels odd to be "raised" over the ground) and felt as natural on ice as my own shoes on dry pavement. I had considered the much touted Yaktrax, but a few hours with Stabilicers convinced me that I did not even want to try another brand. I even kept them on while I was driving short distances (since I had to drive from one trail to another) and they did not feel uncomfortable (since there are no actual spikes)-- not that I would recommend doing that, of course. I found them very easy to slip over a pair of boots (both with my boots on or off) but I think correct sizing is the key to a snug, secure fit.
