Apparel reviews of STABILicers Lite Ice Cleats

Customer Review: Good light-weight Ice Cleats
Rating: 4 Stars

This is a great pair of strap-on ice cleats that fits nicely, and the metals spikes at the bottom offers a great support while walking on ice and snow. You can slip-on these light-weight cleats on your snow shoes or any other boots you may want to wear while walking on ice or snow. I bought this to walk on the pavement or side streets when it is hazardous during winter, especially when water/ice is refrozen. I also wear this to shovel snow when the surface is slippery and dangerous. I bought large size; surprisingly it fits on the boots of wife (size 6) very comfortably. But one word of caution, the rubber is of moderate quality and I don't know about its durability, but I think it is still a good buy considering its price.

Customer Review: Add an instep strap - then OK for Hiking
Rating: 4 Stars

I recently (Feb 09) went for a multiday hike in the Grand Canyon. I brought my Yak Trax for the icy top 1/2 mile. Getting ready for the hike, one of the bottom cords snapped so I bought a pair of Stabilizer Lites at the outdoor store. Going down - no problem. But while we were down in the canyon, the rim had a 20 inch snow so we had to hike up (1,500 feet, 3 miles) through crusty ice and packed snow. At the top, one stabilizer lite was gone - pulled off by ice, rock, log, ????. I didn't even notice it when it happened.

Most of the previous reviewers have used them for home use - I agree - they would be fine as is. But, if you are going to use them for icy hiking trails you should put a cord or strap from their sides, across your boot instep to keep them from coming off.

With that caveat, they are much more durable than Yak Trax and really offer good traction.

(now I have one Yak Trax and one stabilizer lite - oh well).

Customer Review: Great, only one flaw
Rating: 4 Stars

These cleats are great with one exception. I ordered the size M but they are just barely large enough to fit my large ladies size 9 hiking boots. One of them slips off while walking in the snow sometimes. Other than that, great product. I do feel that the amount of loose snow and unsure footing I have here in the mountains of Colorado may be a bit more than most people would ask of this cleat. Good product at a good price.

Customer Review: Easy to Use
Rating: 4 Stars

I just got these yesterday and gave them a run in the Vermont ice and snow. They are easy to put on and take off. Plus they seem to really do the job of preventing slips and falls. I had two serious falls in the last 10 years with broken bones resulting so I'm really hoping they prevent a third. From all the other reviews of this product, I believe they will.

Customer Review: no more slipping
Rating: 4 Stars

i love them! i would have given it five stars if it wasnt such a struggle to put them over my boots. My mother-in-law even has a pair!
it is pretty handy on those winter days when its icy out. very helpful especially when walking the dogs, no more dodging those icy puddles on the sidewalk!
