This is the warmest coat I have ever owned. After living in the tropics for many years, I moved to an area that has long, cold winters. I had purchased a locally made, name brand, down-filled coat, but it just did not keep me warm. This one is wonderful! The coat is very thin and lightweight, not bulky at all, but I never feel the cold through the fabric, even through the sleeves, usually one of the first places the cold starts to seep through. The fur trim on the collar and sleeves zips off, so I think this will be a three-season coat for me. The length is great; no sudden shocks when I sit on a bench in sub-zero temperatures waiting for public transportation. The pockets are deep and warm, and they zip closed. The coat is roomy enough for layering underneath, though I find I don't need heavy layers in order to stay warm, even when I'm outside for extended periods of time.
The coat is very attractive, but the silhouette is perhaps not as flattering as it could be. There is an elastic drawstring hidden on the inside to make the coat fit more snugly around the middle, but it falls at an odd place, too far above my waist to be comfortable or flattering, but not high enough to give the appearance of an empire waist. The first couple of times I wore the coat, I scratched the sides of my hands on the pocket zippers, but haven't done so lately. I think I learned to subconsciously adjust the way I slide my hands into the pockets. The hood is really cozy, and makes a huge difference on frigid, blustery days, but it has no string or snaps to tighten it around my face. However, it seems to stay in place remarkably well even without a drawstring.
There's no way I would have spent the MSRP on this coat, even if I could have afforded it, but the sale price makes it a great deal. This is a beautiful, comfortable, WARM winter coat.
