Apparel reviews of Baby Be Mine Maternity Belly Band in 4 SizesCustomer Review: Perfect if you are too small for maternity pants Rating: 4 Stars
I got the belly band in dark blue and started wearing it when I was 11 weeks pregnant. I'm currently 19 weeks and loving it!! It allows me to wear my regular jeans for a little longer since I'm not too convinced about getting a bunch of maternity clothes that I will only need for a few months. By the time the weather warms up a bit and my belly will be bigger maybe I'll only need a few maternity dresses instead of maternity jeans which are always pricier. I only have 1 complaint: I used to wear a pants size 6 before getting pregnant and even after I got the smallest size 1, it is still big for me and I need to fold it over my hips because it is way too much fabric for my waist. Of course, I need to confess that it's my first pregnancy and though I'm already getting halfway there, it's a super small belly and I have only gained maybe 8 pounds.
Customer Review: will use it plenty Rating: 4 Stars
i had a hard time choosing the size.. im about 5'8 and 145lbs at 18 weeks pregnant. i ordered a size two. its loose now, but not so much to where i cant use it at all. its cute.. the other reviews are right about the elastic, but really its a nice divider to wear. a nice a layered look, pregnant or not. its really long, and as im still small now, im using it as a under shirt showing off the pattern under my low cut tops or wearing it as a tube top. it covers my chest and goes down past my pant line. im excited to see it with a bigger belly under a cute top as well. so even if you cant get it to hold up your pants and keep them on when unbuttoned, you'll find some use for it. if they were a bit cheaper i would buy a ton of them truthfully, but for the price i only got the universal patterned one and im very happy with it.
Customer Review: It works, but a little big Rating: 4 Stars
These pregnancy bands really are a good idea, especially when you are in the stage where you don't look pregnant, but you have gained about 5 pounds and none of your pants fit!
My only criticism is that the pre-pregnancy size chart is a little off. I bought size 2 and it feels a little big. Maybe it will fit better when I am bigger, though, if I choose to try and wear it with my pre-pregnancy pants. I have been folding it over.
Customer Review: a bit long, but does the trick.. better for late trimester Rating: 4 Stars
I'm in the first trimester still, but I've been extremely bloated, so I got this to sort of hold things in. It's a bit long for me, but I suspect it'll be more useful in the third trimester. It's a bit thick, so I don't know how comfortable it will be in the summer. The overall quality of the fabric is good, but I don't know how it will stand-up to washes. I have black.
Customer Review: Didn't work well for me Rating: 3 Stars
I thought that I was going to love this band and that it would help me extend my wardrobe, especially in the period where my pants were getting tight but I wasn't ready to tell people I was pregnant yet. Unfortunately, this just didn't work well for me. I have (had!) a pretty small waist and bigger hips/butt, so the bottom of the band was always riding up and bunching around my waste instead of staying over my hips and the top of my pants. Each time I wore it I was tugging it back down all the time and was self-conscious that it would ride up without my noticing and people would see that my pants weren't buttoned at the top.
My advice if you're growing but not telling yet: buy a pair or two of maternity pants with the low-rise, stretchy waist-band (not the over-the belly kind, which look clearly maternity). That style fit me great from barely showing through well into the 3rd trimester, and doesn't look obviously maternity. Plus, they're great for the postpartum time when you're smaller but not back to your pre-pregnancy size yet. Gap makes a great pair of totally normal looking black pants of this style, and Old Navy has some good jeans in this style at reasonable prices.
