I bought this stretcher for my husband's athletic walking shoes (looks like a tennis shoe). They were too short and he wanted to lengthen them a bit.
I bought a cheaper stretcher like the one you see on TV made with pine wood, and it is cheap and of poor quality, the adjustment handle would not turn and it was not sized to fit a man's shoe.
I saw the FootFitter on Amazon and other websites and read the reviews and decided to try it. It is made much better with hard wood and has a much better adjustment handle which is easy to turn. It is sized to fit a man's shoe and that makes it better than the cheaper one.
One comment that my husband will make is that if you are stretching a leather dress shoe then this will work fine but when he is trying to stretch a soft tennis shoe, the wooden toe of the stretcher has too much of a point at the end for a pointed shoe instead of a rounded tennis shoe. He took a two-inch piece of rubber hose and put it on the end of the stretcher and then when he adjusts the stretcher for length and width, the soft hose will protect the softer shoe and stretch it to a more rounded toe rather than a pointed toe.
The rubber hose is soft enough to provide a more rounded toe adjustment instead of having the pointed toe end of the stretcher dig into the tennis shoe material.
By doing this simple adjustment, the stretcher works great and the ease of turning the adjustment knob is excellent. It is ashame that they don't make a shoe stretcher that has a more rounded toe design.

I absolutely love this product! Every woman should own one! I had multiple pairs of cute heels that I convinced myself into buying because they were extremely stylish - and unfortunately not so comfortable. The shoe stretcher seemed to have done its job reasonably well. Although directioins said to leave in for 48 hours, the critical shoe required an extra 24 hours, but after that point it was fine. THe directions were clear.Customer Review: Quality product but...

This is a quality product but my husband was hoping it would also stretch the arch area which it did not. Also, since he wears a size 12, and the product works on sizes 10.5-12, he felt that it probably couldn't stretch shoes on the larger size as much as as it could shoes on the smaller side of the size range. It would probably work better in a size 10.5 shoe.Customer Review: Nice and handy item

I am a procrastinator. That is why I decided to get ahead of the "game" now. I have a pair of half boots that I want to wear in the fall and winter, but, they are a bit too narrow for me. So I ordered this great shoe stretcher. I also ordered some shoe stretch spray to help me along.
They both arrived in a very timely manner. And they are just what I expected. I've done business here before and I will continue to do so.
