For years I've been using the el-cheapo $2 black pleather business card holders from Staples as my main wallet. They held a dozen cards (but no greenbacks--I used a separate money clip for them), and the form factor was fantastic. The only problem was the fact that they'd fray and wear out within two months flat--which started making them not-so-el-cheapo anymore.
This unit is *almost* as compact as the business card holder, comes in more colors, looks a lot classier, and definitely holds together better. It's certainly easier on the olde arse than a traditional Costanza-style wallet. I agree that elastic around the sides would have been nice, so your cards don't accidently fall out, but it really isn't a huge issue if you're the type that carries a lot of cards--which I am, and odds are, if you're here, so are you. But if you're the type who can magically get by with less than a half dozen cards on you, hey, more power to you. Don't waste your money on this, just use the pull-out insert from a passcase.
All in all this is a decent little card-carrier that fits a little bit of cash to boot. (FYI, I keep the cash behind the cards in the main pocket.)
