I've only had this a few days, but I think it's going to do the job. The quality of construction appears to be fine and the stitching and trim are nicely done. I was a bit concerned about comments on both fibers coming off and the zipper jumping the track. I believe the interior materials of construction have changed, since I can't get any fibers to come off on whatever I place inside. I can see that a zipper might jump the track, but I have had that happen on jackets, pants and other small cases. The zippers on this bag are no better or worse than most other zippers of this type. No problems so far though.
There is a VERY slight odor initially, but I don't think even someone sitting next to me would notice. Can't imagine even that will last long. The pen holder is VERY tight, but I imagine that will loosen up after some use. However, I tried a pen with a "clicky" top and when I snapped the top flap, I realized that it had pushed the plunger down so the pen was ready to write (AND to leak into the case.) Simply changing to another type pen should cure that problem.
Another minor issue is the strap. I don't mind a thin strap, since I'm not packing really heavy items. The snaps on the end are supposed to swivel but were very rough and hard to turn. You want this to work smoothly so the shoulder strap can be untwisted. Initially this swivel action was so stiff, that I thought perhaps it wasn't meant to turn. After carefully spraying a bit of lithium lubricant into it, it works a bit better. It's not real smooth, but it will do the job.
Pocket sizes seem like they will be ideal for my needs, but obviously everything depends on what you need to carry.
