Apparel reviews of Gold Toe Men's Cotton Fluffies Casual Sock, 3-PackCustomer Review: Too large Rating: 3 Stars
These socks are supposed to be sized to fit shoe sizes 6-12&1/2. I wear a size 11 and, if I pull them snug to the toe, the sock's heel slips around my heel and rides up the back of my foot. I washed them in hot and dried them on high and got them to shrink some but they are still a little too long. I got these to use for long walks on a forthcoming vacation and I'm concerned as to how well they will work. Aside from the excess length, I can feel the ribbing under the sole of my foot and I'm concerned that they will be uncomfortable for that pupose.
Customer Review: Not a good sports sock, GO WITH THE 513S Rating: 2 Stars
I have changed my review from one of positive to negative.
I have now received two different designs for this sock. The one I wanted was a 3/4 sock with a thick non-ribbed bottom; I got this the first time around.
What I got this time, was a full length (for those without calves) sock ribbed all the way through with very little padding at the foot.
I have contacted Gold Toe and the sock I was after is the Cotton Crew 513S.
This is the 3/4 (Approx. 5-1/5 inch top) with full padding on the foot sock I was after to begin with.
Gold Toe admitted that they have so many sock designs now that the customers are having problems (as I did) finding there old standbys from years ago.
I hope this helps so that everyone does not have to go through the research process that I did to buy a simple sock!
Customer Review: Not pleased with the changes Rating: 2 Stars
The reports are true. The current socks are much thinner than the previous version, which I had worn (replacing every 1-2 years) for 10 years. If it was even a close comparison, I wouldn't bother writing a review. But these socks are not comparable. Much thinner, stretchier, and a much looser weave. As an example, I can see right through the sock to my skin at a seam area below the ankle. This is not the case with the older model. That's not to say these socks are unwearable, but they are not very cushioned and they feel cheap.
Customer Review: Not what they used to be Rating: 1 Stars
I've been a Gold Toe sock wearer for 20 years. The socks I received yesterday from Amazon are not the Gold Toe's of yesteryear. Instead of being thick, well made and comformatable - these Gold Toes are paper thin, poorly-made garbage. Let me explain line-by-line how horrible these socks are:
(1) Thickness
When I put them on my feet ** I can actually see through the sock**.
(2) Elastic
A word about the elastic. I signature for cheaply made socks is their inability to stay up when you walk. These Gold Toes fall to your ankles within 25 steps.
(3) Better Options
The bottom line is that they are bad socks. You can do better by buying cheapo Fruit of the Loom socks from a box store. These Gold Toes are good for little more than waxing your car. A better sock I can recommend to you are the crew socks offered by Landsend. If you are a person like me who you used to swear by Gold Toe but now find them grossly inadequate, then you will be happy with the offering from Landsend.
Good luck shopping.
Customer Review: Not Fluffy At All Rating: 1 Stars
Calling these FLUFFIES is a big joke, like calling Shaquille O'neal "tiny". Obviously some companies have no qualms about calling their products anything they like, regardless of the truth.
I purchased "regular" Gold Toe socks along with these FLUFFIES to replace those I had purchased several years ago. Those I replaced were GOLD TOE in 2 different grades. I was hoping that these FLUFFIES would replace the better grade socks.
Not a chance. It seems like as it is with so many companies today trying to continually lower their prices to attract the ever larger bargain-hunting crowds that GOLD TOE has significantly dropped the quality of all their brands.
The bottom line is that in order of quality, #1 is my OLD good socks (even after several years of wear!), #2 is my OLD lower grade socks, #3 is my new regular Gold Toe and at the bottom is the so-called FLUFFY Gold Toe socks.
They are so inferior, in fact, that I gave away to a friend 4 of the 5 packs I purchased. Not even worth the aggravation of wearing.
