Customer Review: Run small and elastic on top is t-i-g-h-t!

I wear a size 9 1/2 so have a difficult time finding socks that are large enough. My husband loves Gold Toe so I thought I'd give the women's version a college try. Well, they failed. They were not long enough (the heel was too short) and the elastic on the top of the sock was super tight. Within an hour, I could feel the elastic cutting into my ankles. I don't consider myself to have particularly fat ankles and haven't had issues with my socks since I was 8 months pregnant and constantly afflicted with bloated "cankles". These socks gave me a flashback to my last pregnancy. I miss being pregnant, but I don't miss socks not fitting my feet. I gave these to my mom, but they were too tight around her ankles as well, though the did fit her feet (she's a size 8). She ended up giving them to a neighbor girl (she's 12) and they fit her perfectly. So I guess if you are petite and really slender (or at least have legs that are more slender than normal), these would work well. The combed cotton is silky smooth and toes are reinforced. I wish Gold Toe would ease up on the elastic and offer a larger size for those of us not blessed with the perfect size 7 feet.
