Great concept with poor execution. The design is a tight "snap bracelet-like design". It takes a lot of work to get it open and not have it snap closed on your fingers in the meantime. If you're lucky enough to get it open, and get your hair rolled up inside, good luck getting it back OUT of your hair.
I was afraid my husband was going to have to cut it out of my hair. It was painful getting my hair rolled in it, and painful getting it back out. Definitely a "do not buy ever" product.

I had long been a fan of the Hairdini but was having a hard time finding a new one in local stores so I bought the Hairagami. I have tried many times to use it and I think I need a third arm use do it properly. Perhaps the fact that I have longer layers makes it so difficult. If I can get it to stay open long enough to actualy get my hair between the 2 metal plates before it snaps shut on itself, once the hair is actually in, each plate rolls up on itself instead of together. If I do manage to get the plates to snap together then it is very painful to slide down the hair and once it's rolled the bun is too tight. Sorry but I'm going to do an online search to buy my trusty Hairdini instead.Customer Review: Easy, stable and comfortable hairstyle.

I work in a dental office and find the hairagami bun is a great, comfortable and tidy way to wear my hair. It keeps my hair out of my face without lots of pins, clips, etc.
It does take a bit of mastering but after some practice your hair goes up quite quickly and stays all day .
I had one and purchased 3 more for the future. (They do wear out after a time..but these will probably last forever now that the practice period is over!!)

Once you get the hang of opening it up and not having it snap closed on you, you can do all the things it says it does. I have long, past shoulder curly hair and was able to do all the styles that they have in the instruction manual. Super great.
Only flaw is that inside, there are actual flat metal pieces. Therefore, it's not really adapted for pool use or swimming where the hairagami gets wet. You can't really dry it out either. And the rust will shorten its snap life-span.
Lastly, after a while the product looses its snap anyway. I found that after about 6-8 months of constant (5 days a week) use, the snap just becomes less effective and eventually they are to throw away. But for this price, it's worth it.
Oh, the scrunchy is a waste of time.

i am in the beauty industry and i find this to be a very versatile product. my only problem with it (as has been discussed by the previous review) is that the metal bone tends to snap together if not carefully held. it is a loud and rather painful (to the fingers) occurrence. the secret to using hairgamai is to usssse the product on slightly damp hair. you will find that the procedure will go on veyr smoothly as the hair becomes more pliable.
