Apparel reviews of HUE Women's Peek-A-Boo LinerCustomer Review: LOVE it-ideal for professional wear Rating: 5 Stars
I absolutely LOVE it. The sock is very low cut and barely visible with pumps. These are actually the lowest cut liners I've tried (including regular liners that are specifically designed to be low cut. I haven't tried these with actual peep toes but at work I often switch between flip flops and pumps so I love having a sock that lets me wear thong sandals. I never wear pantyhose anymore, and even then I hated sweating in my nonporous, uncomfortable shoes that would abrade my feet. Although the fabric is thin, it cushions my feet nicely. This cushioning is a huge plus if your heel is elevated and the ball of your foot is being mashed into the bottom of your pumps. The liner also makes my shoes fit better, it gets rid of that problem where your feet might slip out while you're walking in high heels.
Even if you're wearing it with very low cut shoes that reveals the top of the sock, or you're wearing thong sandals, the shape of the sock looks very sexy. I like to wear these with my very low cut wedge shoes, the shoe is so low cut that you can see the knuckles of my toes. When I'm wearing the liner under these shoes, there's a little crescent of bare skin between the border of the shoe and the liner (where the toes are) and the effect is very, very cute. (Think of those tops that have a little peephole or crescent opening at the cleavage.)
I'm a size 7, I use the M/L size and it works great. I've tried other liners before but this one has an anti slip guard for the heel that actually does the job.
The nude color stands out more than it blends in, however, I would suggest getting the black if you're going to wear it with black shoes. Some people seem to dislike this liner because it rides up, but any low cut liner is going to have that problem after multiple uses and this one has been the least problematic I've tried so far. Also, this is the least visible liner I've seen. It maybe peeks out by 2 millimeters on a size 7 pump that is low cut enough to show a tiny bit of toe cleavage.
These liners make the whole switching-from-sandals-to-heels-in-the-elevator/in-front-of-the-office-building (and vice versa) much quicker and more discreet because you don't have to take off your sandals, put on your liner AND your heels, then take off your heels AND liner, then put on your sandals. I had always wanted to wear a liner under my heels but had been discouraged from doing so because the regular socks would make it harder for me to wear thong sandals. Perfect for people who wear both flip flops and heels at work! I have also decided that I'm going to wear these with my regular, casual thong sandals to protect my feet, they're getting calloused and gross. Wearing a liner isn't a necessity, but it's nice to know that my feet will be less sweaty and stinky in these (especially since I have a habit of slipping my shoes off at inappropriate times!)
My only concern is that the heel of my left sock seems to have stretched out a little bit, and that extra fabric rides up a tiny bit when I slip into a shoe that has a more textured inner lining. I can probably avoid that by using a shoe horn, the sock doesn't ride up as much if the inner lining of the heel of the shoe is more slippery. Either way, it's not a huge problem. I've worn liners that would actually slip off of my heel but this one stays put.
If you take public transportation to work, park your car a good walking distance from your office, and/or are often in a position where you wear flip flops for walking to work and heels for working, these socks are perfect for you.
I would love to see a super low cut liner with a bit of a lacy trim, since it's inevitable that some of it is going to peep out anyway. I suppose that would be more difficult, since you can only go so low with the elastic before you're wearing an insole rather than a liner.
