I travel light, which means laundry. To forgo the pleasure of clothespins, I take this line. It has worked well on 4 major trips now. With a very small load of laundry (my usual every-other-night wash) it is fine. For larger loads I add an "extender." In the past it was a bit of cord, but I now use a 60 inch web belt (which has several other uses when I travel.) The belt allows me to attach the clothesline in (so far) any hotel and extends the line for large loads.

Item received not as shown or as advertised. Item received stretches to 6 feet per package, not 7 feet as in description. Ends are Velcro strips.

I bought this before a two week trip to Europe, where my wife and I were traveling light (carry-on only), planning to do regular hotel-room laundry. In ~9 different hotels over the trip, I didn't find one with attachment points where this elastic clothes line worked well -- we didn't use it once!

VERY fortunately, I also bought some Night Ize "Figure 9" clips (for sale on Amazon; search for "Figure 9") and about 30' of 550 paracord (also for sale on Amazon). The clips and paracord let us dry our laundry every other night in every different hotel room -- 5' of laundry, 30' of laundry .. however much we needed, no matter what the size of the room, no matter how it was configured.

NOTE: THIS ITEM IS DIFFERENT THAN PICTURED. The picture shows continous looped ends. The product I received, while the same in every other way, is better: the ends are not continuous loops, but velcro. So, you can make a loop easily out of the velcro, which makes this usable on far more anchor points than if it just had the continuous looped ends.
I've owned a few variations of this product over 15 years of traveling light (and thus doing a lot of sink-washing of clothes), and this is by far the best. It's really rather ingenious, and I wished I'd had it on all my trips. The strong but adjustable velcro ends make it possible to connect to hook it around just about anything. The length is ideal. But what I like best is the material the actual "rope" part is made out of. It looks like some kind of fabric-based rope in the picture, but it's not; it's actually a rubbery material. An advantage of that is it doesn't stay wet long, but the biggest advantage is that it holds clothes in place pretty well without clothespins. That is, if you're stringing clothesline across a distance that is less than the length of clothesline itself and it is not stretched taut, you can still hang your clothes from end to end and they don't bunch down towards the middle. That rubbery material works well with wet clothes to grip them and keep them from all slipping to the middle.
Strongly recommended product for people like me who refuse to check luggage, bring few clothes, and thus wash a lot while traveling!
P.S. I'm normally leery of products with a celebrity's name attached (in this case Rick Steves), but bought it anyway. So glad I did!

I bought this model because I thought it would be great to not have to worry about packing clothespins. The line is strong and has velcro for the ends (although I used a carbiner to hook it onto a towel rack). However, trying to put the garment pieces on the line was a lot of work for me. Probably fine for folks with great dexterity and no arthritis... but just be aware that you need to have some strength to open the "hole" in the braid to put your garment in it! (I'm sure my granddaughter will love it for her backpacking trip Down Under!)
