Apparel reviews of Rick Steves Travel Gear ClotheslineCustomer Review: Does exactly what it's supposed to do. Rating: 5 Stars
I used the Rick Steves clothesline on a two-week trip to Kenya. Hand-washed my clothes on several occasions, and the clothesline was perfect--kept my wet stuff off the floor, let it dry without significant wrinkles, and avoided exposing it to dirt or pilferage outdoors. I echo the other reviewers who like the hook-and-loop straps, as these offered more attachment options (note that these are not pictured in the stock photo above). You might need more than one if you like to do big loads of laundry, rather than a day's worth at a time, or if you're traveling as a group or family. I'll be buying more for such occasions!
Customer Review: Nice little clothesline. Rating: 5 Stars
I bought this clothesline to use when traveling, and it fits my needs perfectly. It stretches nice and tightly to the right length between the handles on either side of my vehicle above the passenger doors. The only bad thing I could really say about this product is that it could be difficult for people with arthritis to use because the rubber is woven rather tightly. Otherwise, it's a nice little clothesline.
Customer Review: Very useful! Rating: 5 Stars
The braided-rubber design is brilliant---very easy to attach things securely without carrying around extra clothespins. Used this for a 2-week trip through Europe (washing clothes daily and hanging them to dry overnight), and it was perfect. The velcro hoops make it easy to attach, and stable, unlike suction cups. A small product, but one that does its job perfectly.
Customer Review: Better than packing more stuff Rating: 5 Stars
Nicely constructed; the hook n' loop doohickeys on the ends make it more versatile since it increases your anchoring options. The packages says that it expands to six feet. Although I've not tested that, it seems a bit optimistic to me but who knows...latex is some stretchy stuff.
Customer Review: Worked great, but... Rating: 4 Stars
This line worked great on a recent trip overseas. But as with all such lines it's only useful if you can find a way to secure both ends. I was lucky, and found a way to secure this line between a shower head and the metal towel rack on the other side of a shower. But this seemed to be the only place in the entire hotel room that this would work. I've been in hotel rooms where I think that maybe I would not have been able to secure this line. Because of this I think this product should offer more options on how to secure the ends (perhaps some strong clips). That's why I don't rate this 5 stars.
One review here complained that the line did not hold up his or her clothes. I can't really see how that could be a problem unless the line was not taut. The line really needs to be stretched between two points, not just hung up. This may be the reason why the other person had a problem, and underscores my concern that a line of this nature needs more options for how to secure the ends properly.
