Customer Review: Is the description wrong?

I've been wearing Levis 550 Relaxed Fit jeans for many years now. In what seems freakish timing, I had the belt loop on one pair pop loose from its stitching; the next day I had the belt loop on another pair pop loose. These jeans were several years old and it seems very odd that they would suffer the same failure 1 day apart.
Anyway, I came here to Amazon to order some replacements (they always fit the exact same on me so I don't need to worry about getting the size right) but I became concerned. The product description says they have a button fly. The 5 or 6 pair I have kicking around here all have zippers. Are there two different styles of 550s, one with zipper, one with buttons? I was concerned that if the style of the fly had changed possibly other things like the cut and/or fit might have changed. So I ended up going to a different site to order some that had zipper fly in the description.
Even though the two failures in the belt loops were a bit odd, I have had the pants for quite a while and they have otherwise stood up well to time. I am not at all afraid to buy more of these pants (just as long as the description makes sense).

Over the years I have tried different models of Levis and prefer the relaxed fit of the 550 over the rest. Of course this is simply a matter of personal preference on how you want your jeans to fit.
I agree with other reviewers in that the material has gotten thinner. In my opinion this is not necessarily a bad thing. The thinner material makes for a lighter weight and even more comfortable jean. It will just take time and many washings to see if these jeans hold up and last as long as the older and thicker Levis.
Overall I am happy with these jeans. Although, if I want a heavy and warmer jean then I buy LL Bean.

I just purchased a pair of Levis 550 light stonewash jeans. As other reviewers have noted, the fabric appears to be lighter in weight than the material used in my 10+ years old Levis 550s, which were not stonewashed. I do not know if the weight difference is attributable to the stonewash processing. Nonetheless the fit is what I expected. I would note also that the bottom legs in the 2009s are wider than those of my older pair. All told, the jeans seem to be of reasonable quality and fit.Customer Review: Nice jeans, especially in the "rinse" color.

The Levi 550 is one of my favorite fits because they aren't too tight or too loose. I really like dark denim and was happy to be able to get them in the "rinse" color. Just got them today and I am satisfied...I gave this item 4 stars only because no jean is perfect.Customer Review: levi's jeans

I would have given five stars but was sent the zipper fly instead of the button fly. My husband decided to keep the jeans anyway. Over all pretty good quality.
