I have to keep a magnetic keycard with me all day at work. I tried using just retractable spool to clip on my waistband but I lost a keycard that way (those things never seem to stay clipped for me).
This is the best solution I've found. I've been using this ID holder for nearly two years. Unfortunately, the spool got caught in a door that someone else slammed shut and it broke. I have another spool clipped to the lanyard and it works fine. The leather case still looks good, and I like that there is a strong piece of Velcro on the badge case so that my keycard won't slide out. The lanyard still looks good, too - no wearing or threading. The lanyard has a sliding piece to allow you to adjust the length. I also like that I don't even know I'm wearing this lanyard. It's comfortable and doesn't rub against my neck.
All in all, this is a much better solution than some of the less expensive (translate: cheap) options I tried. Those all broke and caused more headaches than they were worth. This badge holder is great. If I ever need to replace the one I have now, I'll definitely buy the same one.
