Customer Review: Exactly what I was looking for
Rating: 5 Stars

After searching around for some covers for my Kindle, I finally decided to settle on the Mivizu Sleek Leather case for the Kindle 2. I ultimately chose this case because I didn't want a bulkier case that many other owners seem to favor; I don't care for all the zips and pockets--I want to be able to comfortably hold my kindle without having to deal with all the bulk while simultaneously protecting it from any scratches (I have small hands). Similarly, I didn't want one of those sleeves because I've had experience with those on my mp3 player--those get dirty so fast and dust/lint/etc still finds a way to squeeze in there and make a sticky mess. Basically, I wanted something to cover my device and prevent it from getting scratches while it tumbles around in my bag. I found it in this case.

I am looking at it now as I type so I don't forget to talk about certain things. First, I'd like to address the aesthetics of the cover itself. The leather is exactly as the title suggests: sleek, stylish, and very thin. The inside is a softer faux-suede to protect the screen of your kindle. The button snaps on the back of your kindle and doesn't seem to put too much "force" on your device (something that worried me). There's a cut out on top for the power switch and headphones, as well as 2 cut outs in back for the speakers. You can also adjust the volume on the side easily. Finally, unlike what other people have been saying about being able to charge your kindle while it is in the cover, I have NO troubles at all. The port to plug in the charger clears the lip of the case; you don't have to fiddle with it to expose it or anything--just unbutton it, plug it in, and it's charging. In any case, if yours doesn't clear it for whatever reason, you could probably take a pair of scissors and carefully cut out a piece of the case to make room for it (that's what I was planning on doing before receiving my case and discovering for myself that it was unnecessary).

Your kindle snaps into the case and stays snapped in; I shook it around to make sure it wouldn't fall out and it's solid. As far as standing goes, for the most part it has trouble standing unless you snap the button back to hold it up or are lucky and find the right angle where it won't flatten down (the cover slides on smooth surfaces, as to be expected). However, you can adjust the angle if you place an object against the cover to prevent it from sliding (such as a cell phone, which is what I'm using right now). Similarly, if you are resting it on more "rugged" terrain (blanket, cushion, etc), it has an easier time standing since the cover can rest against a bump to keep it from sliding.

As far as durability goes, I wouldn't exactly say that this case is good at preventing damage coming to your device if you were to drop it--it's more designed to prevent scratches and the like. I still use a fabric pouch to carry my kindle in order to avoid dust and all that nasty stuff from getting in through the sides, as well as prevent any harm that may come to the cover. I just keep that in my bag and pull my kindle out of the pouch whenever I need it--takes up less space in my bag than a wallet. Basically, if you're looking for a cover that's space efficient and has decent protection against normal wear and tear, I highly recommend this case. If you're looking for a cover that's spill proof, crumb proof, and in general, idiot proof, maybe you'd be better off looking at one of those ziplock baggy cases everyone else is so fond of.

Customer Review: Exactly what I wanted

I've seen other reviews regarding poor quality, which I haven't found with my cover. The only negative comment that seems legitimate - somewhat - is that the case interferes ever so slightly with the insertion of the USB cord. As another reviewer noted, you do NOT have to remove the Kindle from the case to attach the cord; just push the case down a tiny bit and the cord pops right in. The purple stone is exactly what's shown on my screen, so no surprises. It stands up on it's own for hands-free reading (an important feature for me) and it's extremely low-profile. The cover folds back on itself, adding a bare minimum of bulk, and disappears when reading. This cover is perfect for the person who wants their Kindle protected but doesn't want to add a lot of bulk. It's sleek (hence the name), stylish, and very reasonably priced. After I ordered mine for $25 (inc. s&h), I noticed they added the plain black version for $9 (inc s&h). That's an amazing deal so keep an eye out!

Edited to add: I've had this cover for nearly three months now and I'm as happy with it as I was the day I received it. There has been no cracking on the rubber edging, as another reviewer noted. I've never had any problems with it staying put when in the standing position, though I am careful to butt it up against something if the surface is particularly slippery.

Customer Review: nice cover

I have this cover in green and the picture is accurate on my monitor for color.
The leather is similiar to a leather wrapped steering wheel, thin and smooth. I did try to scratch it with my fingernail and it did not show a scratch at all. The 'tab' where the snap is attached is flexible right out of the box. The snap easily fastens without having to put a lot of pressure on the kindle itself.
The corners are easily secured onto the Kindle and they seem to be secure yet it is still easy to remove the device. I have a skin on my Kindle and the fit is not too tight.
I was a little concerned that the texture inside the cover would be rough, but it is not distracting. The texture does aid in holding the cover and Kindle in the easel position. I prefer reading with my Kindle in this position and have not had a problem with the Kindle sliding.
All of the buttons and controls are easily accessible.
I will use a different or additional case if I am doing hard core traveling where the Kindle has a higher risk of being damaged. However, I take my Kindle with me everyday to work and do not worry about it in this case.
If you are considering an Amazon case, spend a few extra dollars for this case- get a quality case in the color you want.

Customer Review: Perfect for the Kindle - functional and looks great

After getting a Kindle that I didn't know I wanted for Christmas, I realized just what a cool gadget it is. I was disappointed that it didn't come with any kind of a cover, and started researching them here at Amazon. I settled on this one because it had the features I wanted - it's not bulky, and it provides an easel to prop up the Kindle for hands-free reading. When I received it, I couldn't have been more pleased. It's extremely well made, fits the kindle perfectly and securely, and the color is a beautiful, rich blue. I really like the easel feature -- you can even use it to prop the book up on your tummy when you're laying in bed reading! You can also attach a booklight to the back of the cover for reading at night. One thing to note is the leather is very "stiff," it's not soft like a purse or a wallet, if that makes sense, so if that's what you are expecting you will be disappointed. I have a second case that I use for storing/transporting the kindle - it's padded so it offers additional protection. I put the kindle (with the leather case cover, that adds virtually no additional bulk), along with the power cord inside this second case whenever I'm not using it. For me this is the perfect system.

Customer Review: Just what I was looking for

I just received this cover in a beautiful purple color and am 100% pleased with the product. I chose this cover because of the vertical flip style and how, when open, it is barely visible when viewing the front of the Kindle. (I love the clean design of the Kindle, and I didn't want a cover that detracted from that.) The Kindle fits perfectly and securely in the cover. When closed, the case snaps securely and the Kindle is protected from dust. The openings for the speakers and the power slider and earphone port are perfect. You do need to open the snap to plug in the charger, but that is not a concern for me. You can flip open the cover and fold it back partially so that the Kindle stands on a tabletop, or you can fold the cover all the way back to simply hold the Kindle in hand and read. The shade of purple is attractive; it's a lighter purple; "plum" or "magenta" may describe it best. All in all--in appearance, functionality and price--I am very satisfied with this purchase. It is exactly what I was looking for.
