I got this to upgrade from a backpack not designed to carry camera gear. The bag has a lot of straps on it--almost too many--but has ample camera gear storage, including a well-padded compartment for lenses, camera body, etc. I filled up the space with most of my gear (105mm macro and 70-300mm Nikon lenses, Nikon D80 with 18-135mm, binoculars, water bottle, extra battery). I needed to use the shoulder strap (included) to carry the load described above. If you will put as much gear into this lumbar pack, buy the optional carrying straps to make this bag easier to carry on a day hike. The bag is well made and the zippers, etc. look as though they'll stand the test of time.
