I was looking for seamless socks, and when these said flat knit, I thought they would not have such a thick, raised seam at the toe. I really hate that seam right over my toes. I did not dock any stars for that, though, since it was my assumption and not a misrepresentation.
However, these socks are very stiff and not soft at all. I have gotten softer, more comfortable socks for far cheaper at Costco. Even after washing, these socks are stiff. I've never owned such stiff socks. Also, there is a brand logo applied under the arch of the foot. At times, I can feel it through the sock, sticking to my skin and sometimes sticking to the shoe. Its very irritating. Again, it still does this after washing. I wear Dansko, which are a closed heel clog. Perhaps with different shoes, it would be less noticable, but since it still would stick to my foot, I doubt it.
The only good things about this sock are the color, a good, plain brown that matches cloths th way I want. You'd be surprised how many shades of brown there are, and many are more of a reddish brown. The other thing I like, is that band at the top does not dig into my ankle/calf. They stay up but don't leave deep marks in my skin.
