I was looking for something lightweight and fast-drying to use on my travels this summer. I chose this towel because I am not fond of how the looped microfiber towels like Aquis feel on my skin, and I thought Packtowl's products were overpriced. Made from a chamois-type material that is soft to touch (and stays that way), the Rick Steves towel did great as I hopped from hostels to campgrounds to friends' houses to hotel rooms.
I found this towel big enough to comfortably dry me head to toe and still absorbent enough after that to towel-dry my shoulder-length hair, before becoming too damp to use. It would be more luxurious if the cloth were about 1/3 more absorbent than it is, but for the purpose (a small and lightweight towel), it's very good. The towel dries very fast in the sun and quickly enough indoors (never had it take longer than 2 hours).
This towel comes in a mesh bag with zippered pockets on either side and a snap-loop strap -- I kept my travel-size shampoo, liquid soap, etc. zipped in one side, the towel in the other. That meant I never got into the shower to find that I'd left a necessity back in my room/tent/car. And the snap-loop was very handy for showers that had no shelves.
I've laundered this towel several times now and have not seen any color bleed problems with it. Now that I'm off the road for a little while, I'll be using it at the gym instead! Great value for a towel that should last a long time.

I bought this towel after being trapped one night in a mainland Honduras rat-trap hotel (missed airline connection caused an unanticipated Honduras mainland hotel stay). The towel offered at the dump was threadbarren and was tiny.
This towel goes with me on every trip now, whether a weekend at a friend's house or on a 10-day scuba trip. It dries very quickly, is large and soft. I appreciate the length because I am 5'10". I recently got very sunburned in Mexico and found this towel easy on the skin, too. As another reviewer stated, you must pat yourself rather than rubbing your skin as with a traditional terry towel.
The mesh bag, included, keeps the towel packed very flat and the exterior pockets are nice for trial-size bottle storage. The loop is adequately sewn to the towel and the snap is easy to use.
Being a scuba diver, destinations that offer the best diving don't quite live up to American standards in amenities. No worries now, with this towel. I will likely by a smaller one for my gym bag, etc.

We got these towels for our 2 week long backpacking trip in Scotland. We stayed at many different hostels which meant packing up early in the morning to leave, and these towels worked wonderfully! They soaked up enough water to completely dry us off as well as wrap my long hair afterward, and they dried extremely quickly when hung up. There were many days that we had to just put them back in their mesh bags and attach them to the outside of our packs and they semi-dried in that position, but after we reached our destination and we hung them up, they dried out completely and didn't have any sort of funky smell. We used them for 2 weeks straight without washing and they didn't lose any of their absorption power or feel dirty or anything. The sizes were great - large enough to thoroughly dry our bodies and hair, but small enough to pack tightly into our packs without taking up much room. They were very worth it, and we are very happy we purchased them!Customer Review: travel towel

This towel is really nice, but I would not order from this company again. After ordering, I didn't hear from them for weeks. When I called customer service, they told me they didn't carry the item anymore. Then the service representative said she would call me back in an hour, and see if there was a comparable product they could replace it with. After not hearing from her for two hours, I called her back, and she said she had no recollection of our conversation!! But miraculously, she was now able to find my order number, so I could track it on the UPS website. I was not happy at all with their service.Customer Review: This Towel Surpasses All Towels

I went backpacking through Europe and the towel lasted for 18 days before going sour. I thought about washing it, but I was good to go. The texture is similiar to that of a chamois cloth, so patting yourself dry is the best bet. It drys within about an hour to two, dependent upon how much water is absorbed. I generally took showers at night and hung it out to dry, but for those morning showers and days I was on the move, the loop at the corner of the towel is excellent to latch on to the pack and air dry as you walk. Great towel for travelers and backpackers alike.
