Description of Travel Alarm Clock - Shake AwakeSize measures 3 x 2.5 x 1""
Apparel reviews of Travel Alarm Clock - Shake AwakeCustomer Review: Solid Three, but really could be a much better clock! Rating: 3 StarsI don't like the shock of these awful beeping alarms, and finally purchased this Shake Awake vibrating alarm clock for a six-week trip. I researched a lot of them, and was looking for something small enough to travel with, but not tiny. Anyway, I chose the Shake Awake mainly because of the good size, though the design looked cheap.
First of all, it does work, and the mechanical quality feels solid, even though you would not think so with those tacky blue buttons. Good idea to have the clock and vibrating use different batteries.
I give it three stars.
There are several things about the Shake Awake that are worth criticizing:
- PRICE: this product should be $20 or less for what you get. Greedy.
- the vibrating alarm is a little obnoxious, so you have to adapt to it and find a good place to put it
- the beep alarm is the one we all know and hate. Why not something more interesting to complement the vibrating alarm?
- no combo alarm, which i would like (not a big minus)
- the buttons and symbols are very difficult to read, as well as difficult to find in the dark. The snooze and light buttons should be easy to find, this is ridiculous! Put some braille bumps on them or something! Come on!! This is basic.
- the rotating clock stand/face cover works well, thank you. However, it is not easy to open, and is a bit ugly.
- what's with the little clasp and strap with keyring dangling from the side? It's much too big for a key ring! And I'm not going to clasp this to my jeans or something, it's too heavy. And I could not take the strap off without wire-cutters?? Strange.
Did you people even get feedback before putting this thing on the market?
Once I got used to the unfriendly design and memorized the features, the clock was...acceptable. Good size. Still, I give 3 stars, conceding that there might not be a good and affordable vibrating alarm clock out there.
In any case, WAKE UP!
Customer Review: Excellent product Rating: 5 StarsShake Awake-The Vibrating or Audible Alarm Clock
Great product for the price. It works perfectly. no noise for the rest of the people in the house. It wakes me up instantly. I recommend it.
Customer Review: Thankful for this product! Rating: 5 StarsMy kid is hearing impaired and nothing would wake them up except sending in the cat several times. This alarm works like a charm and they are able to wake up without the cat claws!
Customer Review: It worked for a while! Shook me awake! But then stopped. Rating: 5 StarsUpdated review: After working for several months this product suddenly stopped working. I woke up one morning and the alarm clock (in my pillow, as always) was very hot to the touch. Apparently there had been some sort of short-circuit in the unit, and I'm just glad the batteries inside it didn't explode or leak or whatever. If I could revise my rating I would have to give it only two stars due to this problem.
Original review: This product does a great job vibrating me awake. It is also quite accurate with time. (The little "ears" shown on the photo are the product with the lid opened - the lid does double duty as a stand if you want to use it as a regular alarm clock. When the lid is closed, the buttons for setting time and functions are shielded from being pressed accidentally. The clock comes with a velvety bag cover so that it'll feel better inside your pillowcase. It's easy to turn off the alarm after the first pulse when it goes off simply by pressing it through the bag - the place to press is easy to locate by touch. All in all a very nice product and a lifesaver for us, since I have to get up early and my wife sleeps later.
Customer Review: Shake Awake Alarm Clock Rocks! Rating: 5 StarsAmong the things I like about my new Shake Awake alarm clock are that it tucks conveniently inside my pillow case (at the top of my pillow) without it feeling like I'm sleeping on top of a rock. It can be clipped to the edge of the pillow case so it won't fall out or be dislodged while I sleep. The cover over the controls prevents unintended changes in settings while fumbling for the snooze feature when pausing the vibrating alarm. It can also be flipped to the rear for use as a table-top stand. I just realized today that the numerals are BIG. That's a plus because it lets me see the time without needing to first reach for my eyeglasses. I haven't experienced that with any other portable clock I've used. Also, the backlight for the numerals is more than adequate for checking the time with the lights out. And best of all, the Shake Awake vibrating alarm has woken me up on time every day since I started using it. I haven't used the audible alarm at all - I doubt I'd be able to hear it because of age-related hearing loss and the noise generated from my bedside CPAP machine. In short, I specifically wanted and needed a vibrating clock. That's what I got. Through trial and error I found that the snooze alarm function only repeats three times (I think) at 8-minute intervals, so I just plain have to get up! instead of lazing about and falling back to sleep like I have all the time in the world...which I don't! The cloth storage bag that comes with the clock might be handy for storage in a suitcase when traveling. I have no complaints about the features or function of the Shake Awake Clock. One caveat that buyers may want to know: the country of manufacture is China.
