I sleep with earplugs because I sleep so lightly. For me, getting up on time in the morning for 7:30 classes is almost impossible. This alarm clock gets me up when I need to do so. I've had it for several years; I would buy it again.Customer Review: Shakey Wakey (eggs and bacey)

I sleep like the dead, so was really excited when I found this alternative to beeping/buzzing/ringing alarm clocks that I just sleep through. My husband was also excited since the change would mean that he wouldn't have to hear my alarm in the morning.
Overall, I really prefer the Shake Awake alarm clock to any other clock I have used. However, it doesn't work quite as well as I had hoped. My main problem is that the snooze button is not covered by the cover/stand that covers the settings. After a few weeks of using it, I quickly discovered that I could blindly grope under (or in) my pillow and hit the snooze button without really having to wake up.
The other problem is that it still wakes up my husband. For him, it is far less annoying than the noisy alarms, but half the purpose in buying it was to not wake him up in the morning, so it is not perfect.
While this alarm clock doesn't do everything I had hoped, it is still the best alarm clock I have used.

Be careful of whom you purchase from-Maxi-Aids has terrible customer service when you receive a defective item. A month and many e-mails later, along with delivery confirmation, and a return authorization via the sales department, and they now refuse to replace as they had promised. Read the negative reviews carefully - I wish I had. Unfortunately, I put up a "glowing" review immediately upon receipt, and prior to gift recipient opening the item. I was waiting to remove it because they initially seemed like they wanted to "make things right". After 60 days, they know you can't remove it. Customer Review: the clock rocks! (literally)

less than a week in use and it has saved my butt already at my new job. If you need one, (and you know who are if you do) get one.
It is not so jarring it stops your heart, but there is no way you can sleep through it.

My husband and I are on slightly different work schedules, and when we first married, he was very apprehensive at the idea of an alarm clock going off at 4am! So he found the Shake Awake....3 years ago. It has never failed to wake me up, even on my most tired nights, and I've only changed the batteries once this whole time. After 3 years of daily use, the large button used for snoozing and using the backlight for the display isn't working so well, but I'm willing to shop for a new one! It works great and holds up to the manufacturer's claims.
