My son has had this style of hat from age one until now, at two and a half. It's the only hat he'll wear. It's lightweight, dries fast after a dip in the pool or rain shower, provides wonderful coverage to his face, and is easily adjustable. While it doesn't provide the neck and ear coverage I might want (extra sunblock does the trick for that), at least it's a hat he'll wear religiously.
Additionally, he receives comments all the time on the looks of that hat. Our current hat is going into it's second spring and showing no signs of wear after numerous dunks in the pool and wearing all over town.
