Its a little over 2 years since I bought the shoe tree and it is working like a champion! I have a few other shoe trees, but I like this one because the grip is solid, so it allows me to insert and remove the shoe tree easily. The spring action is good and best of all, first class cedar wood. It is aromatic and does a great job of protecting the shape of shoe, preventing moisture and removing odor. I looked at a few other shoe trees on Amazon, this one had the best price:performance ratio going for it.
Rochester shoe trees are coveted a little more, but this one does very well in my opinion and as long as you pick a Cedar shoe tree, you will not be disappointed. The wood is magic.
Now for the split toe versus solid toe debate. It didn't make a difference for my shoes. In fact this is my first split toe shoe tree. Going forward I would go for the solid toe one. I bought this thinking it will fit the width of my shoe better, but have have found no discernable difference other than adding a dash of variety to my shoe tree collection. :-)
I live in India, so I battle with moisture every monsoon! I also find this especially useful when I am travelling as it protects my shoe from losing shape inside my checked in luggage. If you have dress shoes this is a must buy for protecting your investment and if you travel often this beats stuffing the shoe with newspaper or socks.
Its great to pick the shoe off the rack and have the smell of wood in the air! At $21, its a great buy. Enjoy!
